The Significance Behind This Watch

I lost my father to cancer…two months and one day before my college graduation. After that phone call, receiving the news, time completely changed for me. Yet time didn’t stop.

Time changes everything except something within us which is always surprised by change. Thomas Hardy

I have always embrace change and understand that everybody dies…but yet you are never quite prepared to let go.

I also know what you’re thinking..”What about the watch Roland?” well let me enlighten you on it.

I am often ask why I rarely wear this watch. Is it for special occasions? Are you afraid of it being damaged? Is like a rare car you only bring? While those are great questions, that’s quite not it. This watch holds a special weight so I choose to bring it out on certain journeys.

You see, I was eyeing this watch for a few months during the last semester of college. It had a hefty price tag for me so I just was waiting to the proper time to pick it up. The thing is, I only told my dad about this specific watch. Well a few days before graduation, I received this random amount of money out of nowhere….well that money was the exact price of the watch.

I took it was a gift from my dad so I went and purchased this watch. So in essence I take it as bringing my dad with me when I wear this watch.

We must use time wisely and forever realize that the time is always ripe to do right.

Time doesn’t stop nor will it ever. Your time however is limited. The question is are you spending your time or are you investing it. Even though my Father died earlier than expected, I was okay because I made the effort to invest time with him, learn from him, gain wisdom from him so when it was time, I had no regrets. I am grateful because some people do not receive the chance to have that much time to invest with a love one.

So be grateful for everything because time will not stop for you so enjoy each moment so that you may have no regrets.

Love you Dad,
